paulbalcerak:@dcatchpole@mediatwit I actually think it'd be cool to have a "Sources" box/section on every story. Link to sources' Web pages/Twitter/etc.

If Foursquare can turn going out for a burger into a competition, why can’t The Times do the same for in-depth news?
Much like going out to dinner, reading the Times is a status symbol. My friends may see me going out every night on Foursquare and assume I’m a social butterfly. Those same friends can see the articles I’m reading in The New York Times and assume I’m an intellectual.

Daniel said: Users go to the site with journalistic questions they want answered, "Why is corn still subsidized?" as an example, and journalists answer them. Smart, but execution is the hardest part.

We will have students from journalism, computer science and informatics in the class, working in teams to create iPhone applications providing useful community information. I will use my Newspaper Next experience to teach the students about spotting opportunities by identifying jobs to be done for consumers or businesses. I'll handle the aspects relating to gathering the information needed to do the job. We hope to develop a class that will help students with computer backgrounds learn about development for the iPhone, help students from journalism learn about product development and help students from both backgrounds learn something about the other field and about working across disciplines in a project.
