Bio
Although I have been published in traditional formats, including the Philadelphia City Paper and Play Philly Magazine, my preferred medium is the internet.
In 2004, I became the editor for Thinking-East, an online publishing platform for university students in the Middle East and Central Asia. The website was the brainchild of Ben Paarmann, a good friend of mine from the School of Oriental and African Studies.
Thinking-East has since evolved into neweurasia, a network of weblogs focusing on Central Asia and the Caucasus. I currently serve as editor for the network's forthcoming book, CyberChaikhana: Digital Conversations from Central Asia, as well as the managing editor for the site's English edition.
My academic training is actually not in journalism. My undergrad degree is in philosophy and religion, while my graduate degree is in history; in all three cases, the emphasis has been upon Islam and the Middle East.
